The 5 Best Audiobooks

I‘m always up for a good book. I love all genres from suspense to romance to self-improvement. Like many adults and parents of young children, I struggle to find time to physically pick up a book and read. A few months ago someone suggested Audible Audiobooks through Amazon, and it changed my world! With the app, I’m able to listen to these mind-changing audio books anywhere. It even plays in the background, allowing me full access to the rest of my device. Since I run a small business from home, I can easily finish a book or two a week this way. Talk about multitasking! Below are my favorite titles, which I’m calling the Best Audiobooks for small business owners, direct sellers, mothers, and women. Yes, it’s a bold claim, but I’m sticking to it. If you’ve already read one, please let me know your review in the comments below!

The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins

When it comes to doubt and negativity, I am my own worst enemy. I convince myself that I’m incapable of many things, without any evidence or facts. I let myself miss deadlines, sleep in, and take second place. Honestly, I wasn’t in control of my life or my mind. Maybe you can relate.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Go. That’s all it takes to transform your thoughts and take back control. Mel, who narrates the audio version of her book, is funny, witty, and gets to the heart of our daily struggles. With this simple rule, she teaches you how to overcome your limiting beliefs and succeed in every area of your life. I found this book inspiring, practical, eye-opening, and have found it easy to apply. If you love the book, then I also recommend the related journal for organizing your day from the get-go!

The Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes

I have a confession. I’ve never seen a single episode of Greys Anatomy. I know, I know. But I didn’t need to in order to understand Shonda’s message in this amazing book. Her life story, told in her pleasantly sarcastic tone, was not what captured my attention. Instead, it was her courage and ability to challenge herself that had my ears glued to my device’s speaker. She walks us through a year of making decisions far outside her comfort zone, and the results were astonishing.

If you’ve ever wanted to get out of a rut, try something new, or just open your eyes to new possibilities, this is a must-read. Know that you have the power to say YES! as well as no. You are the author of your own story.

You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero

I love this woman. She speaks my language. Jen puts an end to the pity party you’re throwing yourself by telling you the honest truths. Each chapter discusses limiting beliefs and how you can get over them. Perhaps you’ve noticed a trend in my choices? The Universe is waiting for you to get out of your own way. Know your power and accept all the joys and love you could ever imagine.

This book has become my bible. I’ve listened to it three times and always find a new nugget of gold right when I need it. Changing your mindset and life isn’t a quick task, but knowing that you are a badass means you’ll get there in your own time.

And if you hate money, want money, or need money, she’ll set you straight there too. Get over your negative relationship with money and accept the abundance available to you. If you need more than what the original title offers, check out You Are a Badass at Making Money, also narrated by Ms. Sincero.

Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis

I’m sure you’ve all heard of this book by now. You probably have a friend who just read it or a neighbor that just went to one of the theater shows. Rachel has quickly built a cult-like following, and it’s easy to see why. She is the best friend you didn’t know you had, and she wants you to stop telling yourself lies. Using her own personal life experiences, she brings you along an emotional journey that is both relatable and inspiring.

I found myself nodding, laughing, and grieving along with each chapter. This is not an instructional book, but a written attempt by the author to reach and uplift every single woman she can. And I’m a fan for life.

Click any of the Book titles to be directed to Amazon, or head over to Audible Audiobooks to see all the available titles and genres. Like I said before, I’m a total fan of the audio versions, especially when read by the author!

If you have a book recommendation for me please let me know in the comments below or send a message! I’ll add them to my list of Best Audiobooks after reading, if I agree with you! If you’ve read any of the above I’d also love to hear your reviews!Best Audiobooks
